 OVERVIEW

The four-day Choquequirao Trek, which departs from Cusco, is also a must activity. Choquequirao is regarded a holy sister of Machu Picchu, despite not being as well-known as Machu Picchu.

Both have a similar architectural style since they were created about the same time by Pachacutec. The Spanish conquistadors were unable to locate it due to its distant location, and it was abandoned.

Choquequirao means “golden cradle” in Quechua. It provides the most unique off-the-beaten-path experience. The Apurimac Canyon will be your home for the most of your high-altitude adventure. With the help of our local guide, you’ll learn a lot about the plants and wildlife you’ll see along the journey.

Many places were erected under Pachacuti’s reign, and Choquequirao was one of them. Tupac Yupanqui enlarged the throne after he inherited it from his father. Only a third of the complex has been unearthed thus far.
