 OVERVIEW

Huchuy Qosqo Walk 3 Days is a lesser-known yet imposing trek that brings you to Huchuy Qosqo Peru, a lesser-known Inca monument. Huchuy Qosqo translates to “Little Cusco.”

Huchuy Qosqo served as a military and administrative center in the past. At 3600 meters above sea level, the archeological site is located (1181 feet). Viracocha, the Inca ruler, erected it as a Royal Estate.

The Incas did not use a taxation system; instead, they seized control of the land and labor. This allowed them to expand their Royal Estates by purchasing other assets.

The Chancas, on the other hand, revolted against Viracocha throughout his reign. He turned over the crown to his son Pachacuti and sought refuge in Huchuy Qosqo because he was scared for his life. Pachacuti, on the other hand, ousted his father and ascended to the throne of the Inca empire.

Viracocha eventually died in Huchuy Qosqo. His body was mummified and kept in a vault. Viracocha’s mummified body was discovered and burned by the Spanish conquistadors when they captured Cusco.

During Pachacuti’s reign, Huchuy Qosqo grew at a breakneck pace. He constructed several aqueducts, the majority of which are still in use today.

Huchuy Qosqo Peru Trek is less popular than the Inca Trail or the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. As a result, there won’t be many trekkers, and you’ll have the complicated mostly to yourself.

Itinerary

Day 1. Cusco – Patabamba – Huchuy Qosqo

At 6:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your Cusco hotel. Then we’ll take you to Patabamba in our own transportation. At 3800 meters above sea level, it is a little settlement that serves as the beginning point for the Huchuy Qosqo climb to Machu Picchu.

The hike will begin with an ascent to a pass at 4200 meters (13770 feet) above sea level. We’ll take a short rest after we reach the summit. You’ll be treated to a breathtaking vista of the Vilcabamba Mountain Range’s snow-capped summits.

We shall descend to Pucamarca settlement from here. Ancient Inca ruins can also be seen in the village. You will have the opportunity to meet and connect with members of the Andean villages while you are here. They have kept their ancient customs and clothes intact, unspoiled by modernity.

Then we’ll hike the Inca Trail for the first time (Qhapaq Nan). We’ll spend the night at the camping area near the archaeological site.

Day 2. Huchuy Qosqo – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

At 7:00 a.m., we will begin our journey to the Huchuy Qosqo archaeological site. Beautiful views of the canyons can be had on this hike. There will be some native plants and creatures to be seen.

You will be given a guided tour of the complex once you arrive at the Inca site. You will have some free time after the tour to explore the facility.

Following the trip, we will climb to Tauca Pass, the highest point of the Huchuy Qosqo Trek to Machu Picchu, at 4400 meters above sea level. We’ll hike down the hill to our campsite for lunch from here.

We’ll meet our driver in Chinchero after lunch and take a three-hour trip to Ollantaytambo. At 0430 PM, we will board the tourist train to Aguas Calientes town.

We will put you up in an ensuite basic hotel room in Aguas Calientes. We’ll get together for dinner later that evening.

Day 3. Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

The hotel staff will deliver a snack box to you first thing in the morning. After that, you’ll take a bus from Aguas Calientes to the Machu Picchu citadel’s entrance. It takes about 25 minutes to get there. Our tour guide will help you clear security and get access to the citadel.

Once inside, you’ll be rewarded with a view of the sun’s golden rays gleaming on the Incan citadel’s walls. For two hours, our guide will give you a full tour of the fortress. On this tour, you will see some of the citadel’s most important sites, which will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the fortress.

You will have some free time after the tour of the Machu Picchu citadel to explore the citadel on your own. If you have made a reservation to climb Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu, our guide will direct you to the entrance. If you want to walk one of these mountains, please let us know when you make your reservation.

You can also take a trek to the sun gate. It provides a breathtaking perspective of the citadel. For travelers on the Inca Trail, Sun Gate is the point of entry to the fortress.

You’ll take the bus back to Aguas Calientes once you’ve gotten your enough of the Inca citadel. You will catch the train to Ollantaytambo here.

Our agent will greet you and transport you back to your accommodation in Cusco. At around 9:00 p.m., you will arrive in Cusco.
