Day 1. Cusco – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes
The first day of the tour Machupicchu by bus begins with pick up between 7:00 to 7:30 a.m. then we depart from Cusco for a trip of 6 hours and a half to arrive at Hidroeléctrica.
During the trip, we will stop for a while close by Ollantaytambo (10 to 15 minutes), where you will have the option to buy water and/or other snacks or use the restroom.
Then you will ascend to Abra Malaga where you can observe a beautiful landscape of the high Andean area with snowy peaks and then descend into the high jungle, passing through villages such as Santa Maria and Santa Teresa.
Once you arrive at Hidroeléctrica you will have time for lunch, then we begin a walk of two and a half hours (mostly flat) to get to Aguas Calientes (town of Machu Picchu).
From Hidroeléctrica, you also have the option to take a train (25 minutes) if you don’t want to walk, but this has an extra cost of US$ 35 (98% of people go walking), once you arrive in Aguas Calientes you will go straight to the accommodation, then you will have a short free time, you can visit the Hot Springs if you want (entrance fee S/15).
Then you will have dinner, in the end, the tour guide will give you instructions about the visit for the next day (Night in Aguas Calientes)
