 OVERVIEW

For those who do not want to hike the Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, the full-day Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain Tour is the ideal option. Rainbow Mountain, like Machu Picchu, is at the top of many visitors’ Cusco bucket lists.

This full-day excursion is the most convenient choice. The hike to Palccoyo, unlike the trek to Vinicunca, begins at 7:00 a.m. We’ll be bringing you closer to the top. A 45-minute easy stroll through some magnificent hills, including the Stone Forest, is all it takes (Bosque de piedras).

This is an experience at a high altitude. To avoid altitude sickness, we strongly advise you to stay at least two days in Cusco before to the hike. We operate in small groups to provide you with the finest experience possible. Private visits to Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain are also available.

The dry season, from April to November, is the optimum time to see Palccoyo Rainbow Mountains. During the wet season, the route becomes slick, and the hues of Palccoyo are sometimes obscured by fog.

HIGHLIGHT DESTINATION

Itinerary

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain – Palccoyo Cusco

At 7:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your Cusco hotel. Then we’ll take you to Checacupe in our private transportation, which will take you via Cusco’s South Valley. It’s a little colonial settlement. A colonial chapel and a rope bridge resembling Q’eswachaka were erected by Spanish conquistadors in the town.

We’ll come to a halt here so you may use the bathrooms and, if wanted, buy some munchies. From here, we’ll take a detour up the slope to get closer to Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain’s peak. We’ll travel by several distant settlements and schools on our journey. This journey allows you to have a closer look at the undeveloped distant settlements.

We will gradually hike for 45 minutes to reach the peak once we arrive. We’ll travel through a stone forest, or bosque de piedras, on our journey. This is a one-of-a-kind sight. On a clear day, you’ll also get a closer glimpse at the enormous Ausangate Peak, which dominates Cusco’s southern skyline.

We’ll begin our descent to the car park once you’ve got your enough of the breathtaking vistas of the Ausangate Mountain range and Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain. We will drive you back to Checaupe from here. We’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant while we’re here. We will drive you back to Cusco after lunch.
