OVERVIEW
One of the most popular full-day trips from Cusco is the Vinicunca Peru tour. Cusco’s Rainbow Mountain attracts around 800 hikers every day. In fact, it, like Machu Picchu, is at the top of many travelers’ bucket lists.
The Vilcanota Mountain range includes Apu Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain. In 2016, it was found. The seven-color mountain quickly became a famous tourist destination. Mineral deposits are responsible for the mountain’s colors.
On this full-day Rainbow Mountain Cusco tour, you’ll also get a glimpse into the lives of Andean inhabitants in this isolated part of Peru’s highlands. On a clear day, you’ll be able to see the snow-capped top of the enormous Ausangate mountain, which dominates Cusco’s southern skyline.
Vinicunca Peru’s Rainbow Mountain rises to 5200 meters (17,000 feet) above sea level. To avoid altitude sickness, you must be relatively fit and well adapted for the high altitude experience.
Our full-day Rainbow Mountain Cusco trip begins at 0430 a.m. with a pickup from your Cusco accommodation. We offer both breakfast and lunch to make the most of your time on the Seven Color Mountain. You will be escorted by a local climbing expert who speaks English.

Itinerary
Full Day Vinicunca Peru Tour – Rainbow Mountain Cusco
At 04:30 a.m., we will pick you up from your Cusco hotel. Then, in our private transportation, we will drive you for two hours via Cusco’s South Valley to Cusipata. We’ll have breakfast at a local restaurant while we’re here.
We’ll drive you to the trailhead for another hour after you’ve enjoyed a traditional and delicious breakfast.
Before starting the hike, our guide will give you a safety briefing. If you are not confident in your trekking abilities, you may rent a horse from the local community. Before hiring a horse, make sure you discuss the price.
The walk will next commence with a two-hour moderate uphill ascent. On the walk, the scenery is breathtaking. Views of Andean farmland will be your reward. You may also see Andean camelids such as alpacas and llamas grazing nearby.
Our guide will share some local customs with you once you reach the peak. You’ll also be able to see the massive Ausangate peak up close. It is regarded as a holy peak by the natives. It dominates Cusco’s southern skyline on a clear day.
You can continue trekking if you want to view the lesser-known crimson valley.
We’ll begin our trip back to the trailhead once you’ve had your enough of this out of this world scenery. Here is where our driver will be waiting for us. For lunch, we’ll take you back to Cusipata. After lunch, we’ll drive back to Cusco for a two-hour trip.
